Updated poem from last night (or I should say, this morning 3 a.m. before bed). Falling star. What exactly is it? Star light, Star Bright, First Star....
Picture: an "Untitled" as yet. If you look in the upper LH corner you can see -- God? looking both to the left and the right, wondering what on earth (and elsewhere) has happened to creation. Mona Lisa God: is he surprised, awed, unhappy, or copasetic?
Last Star I See
I thought to take you out to see the stars.
But there are no stars tonight.
You had been down forever, it seemed,
admitting "I took a pill --
couldn't think of a reason to stay awake."
So I spent hours creating a picture
swimming with stars, losing track of time,
then would not, could not, stop.
There were no real stars anyway,
even at two a.m.
So. Can one review one's own poem? I've been told by another poet (not on AD) that I have not set up something as large as (or just not set up) the Icarus image. And I think it's an error, that image. It's about trying to fly close to the sun (s). But I didn't mean the thing about the man's being scorched. So I've goofed, i think. julie, give this more thought. And quit messing with painting and get down to working more on the poetry already. and doing the dishes, for Pete's sakes.

Fly too near the stars and your wings ae sure to be scorched
but fear not, when you fall to the sea, the gulls and I will
be there to catch you. Of course, in my back yard it is not

This is GORGEOUS. I could get lost in that painting - did - and the verse is heartbreaking - man chooses not to see, or pollutes His skies until the stars refuse to shine - my new favorite of yours.
