Giant tree trunks lie
Buried deep within
The mounds of sand piled high,
Where water once flowed on down.
Tall trees lining the banks,
Seem praying for the river
To release her prized possession.
But the river's gone.
Where once fish of every kind swam
Zipping, and jumping, splashing about
In deep pools of aqua blue.
So deep many a soul dared not
Its prowess test, as it flowed on.
Waters seemingly so calm and placid
Before cascading noisily
Over jagged rocks and stones.
But it's dry now and nothing flows.
The river's gone.
Where many dove and swam
Through the years
Where we watched in awe
As the swollen waters rushed madly on.
Tree trunks tossed wildly about
Having been ripped from the ground
Along its soggy banks.
But now the river's gone.
The fury has been calmed
No more the music
Of the rushing crystal clear water
On a bright early morn
Nor the rustling tunes of bamboo leaves
Growing along the water's edge..
On a bright moonlit night.
Where has the River gone?
Yea it's gone
The once powerful and feared
Meandering along its numerous bends and curves
Way up from the dense canopies
As it journeyed out to meet the sea.
It's gone now, sad to say,
A victim of man and nature..
Unable to defend herself, even as she cried out.
But she's gone.
The River's gone to eternity.

Such a sad poem... I wonder if man will ever learn.
