most mysterious of mysterious frames
in the darkest pit of all
yearning for extinction's comfort
a petal looks in warm yellow
a virgin smiles with hateless lips
a wrinkled hand trembles as if to love
the pit glows in a natural embrace
..........and in a moment it is dark again
or light!!

Is your title a reference to Hannah Arendt's book?
Why do I feel that the set up of "The Human Condition" is a hospital ward..Oh yes, you are a doctor!!!LOL.. But this is about the patient, not the doctor.. Doctors who are poets really confuse and amaze me.
I love the line:
"Yearning for extinction's comfort"
This is exactly the feeling one has when one is encumbered by too much physical weakness and pain.
"...It is dark again or light", the bedridden dies here?
I love this poem; I only wished you put more music into it.. but since you are a composer, you do not need to do that. You can write music itself, eh?
