A poem about the sights I see outside of my window, the law.

Mr. Black and White nice to see you again

Reassuring to know my street is always safe under your watchful eye

A lifestyle for some a hobby for others

Have no worries now of gangstas producing troubles

Not on your turf no never, not on your over time

Mr. Black and White

I hear you in my dreams

See you when I wake

Can’t disregard the bright red and blues that light the avenue

No time of morning is too early for you to represent that badge of honor

No night is too dark to stress your authority

Mr. Black and White I have a question

Why do you keep showing up on my block

Are you searching for me

But I know I’m clean

So you must be lookin for my uncle or my cousin

But you got them last time

So it must be young dude on the corner who thought he made it clear undiscovered

And when you once capture the wanted and reach that quota

Will you leave in peace

Cause I have class in the morning

And I’m uncomfortable falling asleep to helicopters circling my place of residence

Mr. Black and White I always hear about you

I remember the tales of discrimination

Now I see with my own two

I watch the show outside the kitchen window

And turn it up on the news

Calculating the waste of cities money

Being invested in mid afternoon raids over minor misdemeanors

Mr. Black and White

Nice to see you again

Reassuring to know my street is always safe under your watchful eye
