Peace on Earth

The Christmas season fills the air
With laughter and with song
The wintry winds blow here and there
The nights grow cold and long.

Christmas gifts are scant this year
Still the days are partly sunny
Another year has come and gone
We've had to stretch our money.

Time has dealt a colder blow
In many other ways
Our friends have struggled more than us
In December's waning days.

There's strife and hunger pain and war
There's little time to dance
In far too many other lands
Where peace rarely gets a chance.

What if everyone stopped for just a day
From killing anyone at all
And just gave thanks for the silence
And let it permeate the lull?

Peace on Earth goodwill to all
What a marvelous sentiment
May it reverberate around the world
To those with good intent.

It's a message that can transcend
The troubles of the day
And bring relief however brief
A voice above the fray.

Angels singing from on high
Sweetly sweetly oer the lands
May we be united one and all
While joyously holding hands.

You sing of peace and goodwill toward all. If everyone would only heed your call. What a wonderful life would be.

I spent the past weekend pouring over old family photographs. So many were of Christmas.
What I saw was the stuff of good poetry- never to be seen again I fear.
Thanks for sharing this.

Peace on earth good will to men,
A hope for all, the true meaning to, "the end".

This would be my true Christmas present if this were to be, unfortunately, this would be a great happily ever after!

My mind was in this fairy tale singing "White Christmas" with Bing Crosby, then the sound of a bell in the distance, hearing the words I am dreaming...then realized it was all not to be.
Oh well we can be like the Lion in the Wizard of OZ and say "I do believe,I do believe", all the while closing our eyes, tapping our shoes together, remembering "there's no place like home, there's no place like home".

Aren't our minds wonderful!!!
Merry Christmas my dear friend and good night tonight this Christmas Eve and may God Bless (hearing Red Skelton in my mind once again)

Giggles and hugs,
Teresa
