Not really.
It’s a safe operation—
95 percent of the time.
But kind sir and madam
This is the age of technology
I like better odds
I mean jeepers creepers

I need to see the beauty around me

Of decaying cities
And bombs over Damascus

What happens to the other 5 percent I'd like to know? I had heard it is one of the safest operations. So safe that a doctor operated on my mother even though she was totally blind. If only I had known, but I heard afterward. Don't worry.

I remember when my great uncle and one of the first cataract operations back in the 1950s. We were all scared for him, but it turned out okay. My mother had hers removed last year at 92.
For the last several years, the doc has said that I have the start of cataracts. So far they're not growing. Like you, I have much trepidation about surgery. I only have functional vision in 1 eye, and it's not good. The thought of losing what little vision I have scares the hell out me, even with those odds. I wish you luck and hope all goes well. I'll see ya later.
I was surrounded by people having cataract ops three years ago whilst waiting for laser treatment in the operating theatre for a retinal tear...they were in and out and eating sandwiches and cups of tea in no time,..all bright and happy and saying it was much better than they imagined...Me...Jeepers Creepers I was a quivering wreck! Lol

My ophthalmologist says I have the beginnings of cataracts so I will eventually be having the same self discussion. I enjoyed this poem and love the graphic.

A fun read that reminded me of my own operation a few years back. I'll never forget being completely awake, doctors kibitzing while laser-cutting my eye. Ah, technology.
BTW, might you write one of your scholarly pieces re: all the efforts Trump has made to roll back Obama accomplishments, as well as trying desperately to show effort to his base that he was fulfilling campaign promises. Under your pen, I'd love to see what's left of his promises and his knee-jerk effort to suggest honest effort to fulfill them all.
