The silvery mirror reflects my face, but I see further within
To the concealed part of my image that lays beneath the skin
The part of my reflection that’s impossible for others to see
For the essence of my being is veiled ever so cleverly.
My spirit wears a subtle, but ingenious disguise
Of soft, pale skin, a smile and sparkling jade eyes,
So only my Creator and I know what is hidden below,
Many heartaches, insecurities and tears begging to flow.
The silvery mirror reflects my face, but there are other things within
That smiling image everyone sees; there’s far more under the skin.
