Perhaps this mind is simply not inclined
To understand what lives beyond itself,
And only knows what breathes between the lines
Of each book bound as life upon its shelf.
Perhaps the soul within this mind will seek--
Though maddening contradictions blur all truth
(And bid the soul believe itself a freak!)...
Until the day that mind grows wings anew,
And soars above the false with sensed new sight--
Perhaps the child within will know that time?
To learn of love and hope within the light!
(And loosen its own chains and f r e e that mind)...


Perhaps the child will hear one kindness call
(And learn to live within...  without its wall?)

And when
one
some?           all? (hah!)
give a damn!
about those
who live
(within/WITHOUT!)
we   MAY
find
at the
least
even the   MAD  seek their
peace.
