                                                   DAY TO DAY

                                                 One day, sure,
                                                  you know it all,
                                                  the next
                                                  not a thing.

                                                  Still not to worry
                                                  cause one day
                                                  joyful trumpets
                                                  will be sounding too
                                                  as you stand aglow
                                                  in some great victory,
                                                  admired and envied
                                                  by all until, oh yes,
                                                  the cruelty of another
                                                  day when dark defeats,
                                                  their teeth flashing
                                                  again, start crouching
                                                  towards you more
                                                  brutal than before.
.

                                                  Wait though, hold on,
                                                  cause one glorious day
                                                  feeling like all eternity
                                                  you'll find love,
                                                  soaring, soaring love
                                                  until, good God,
                                                  you're plunging
                                                  the very next
                                                  into pure sorrow.
                                                  And how we can bear
                                                  day to day not
                                                  knowing if blessed
                                                  hope's coming next or
                                                  just bewildering despair,
                                                  God only knows.

                                                  But, hey, who
                                                  ever told you
                                                  it'd be
                                                  otherwise?

Great poem! Seems like life is either expanding or contracting. All victory fleeting, of course. Important to remember that it is usually during the down times where we find spiritual growth. Funny paradox that. Life expands, we contract. Life contracts, we expand.

Amen to that, that's life, ups and downs, good and bad-it reminds me of a country song by Darryl Worley called "Sounds like Life to me," very cool.
