Dragon Slayer
You ask if it's worth it,
with these scars and burns, and
constant vigilence.
Aye, and more's the pity that
you had to ask.
I love the gold, the power, the
adrenaline rush as
we circle the powerful beast;
I love the smell of smoke and
blood, and the sound of
steel to scale, and the slither
of my spear through
dragon flesh.
I love the dying screech
when my sword rams home,
and adding the claws
to my collection.
It's made me strong, and though
I may not live long, I'll
live rich and high and
when I die,
I'll die a warrior's death --
and wait for you
on the other side.

With the day to day dragons we all have to slay, it would be nice to think there will be someone waiting on the other side when the dragon inevitably wins the war! I love the imagery your poetry invokes! -Shay
One of my favorites here. Love the images you constructed so with just a few phrases. Yes, if we don't stand for something, we'll fall for anything. J'nia
