The poem deals with the realities of a person who uses Heroin. The truth about their fears and struggles.

            MY TRUE HERO

My true hero

He follows me every where I go

He holds my hand to fill in the Void

He walks with me

So, I won't walk alone

He keeps me warm at times I need to be warm

When I need comfort he is there

I make many sacrifices to be with him

As I gaze into his Crystalline Eyes

I can see my future

And he touches my Soul

And opens my mind

With a smoothing calming excitement

My stress I don't feel any more

Relieving anxiety

As I slip into a stupor state

My mental numbness arises

Within me

Then I just laugh and laugh

Until what I don't even know

Hey I can't even fine a vein

And it is some of what painful

That damn Hematoma!

Just Why Me?

I need to gaze into his Crystalline Eyes

I can't deal with those shaking spells

Those hot and cold sweats again

Goose bumps all over my body

Vomitting is not fun

Just if I can get him into my veins and feel

His sensation giving my body a Rush!

So I can feel his vibrate spirit touching Me

I just can't eat I can't sleep!

I just hear him calling my sweet name

So now my addictive spirit is haunted

Day and Night by his Voice

It is like a Nightmare I am totally Trapped

As Long as I am submissive to Him

He will control my thoughts and who I am

It didn't use to be like this

I had control

But now I have Nothing

Nothing at All!

As it is said look into my Crystal Ball

Can it  really be a Mirror to my Soul to be?

You capture the full horror of that "monkey on the back". It's a unique Hell for sure. Good work.
