As I return home I am greeted by marble sculptured gods and goddesses.

Carved white - smoothly sculpted marble

Legends held within their breasts

The sculptors skill will attest

Legends held behind softly molded eyes

If they could speak

There would be no lies

Togas draping well formed shoulders

Grandly held within their borders

Acanthus leaves crown curled locks

A design of their long past epox

A crown adorns Diana - Roman goddess of the hunt

Her bow and arrow held in ready placement

As she rests nobly on her pedestal

Her keen eyes ever wakeful

Pauline Bonaparte - sister of Napoleon

No clothing is her desired cast off burden

Lounges languidly - seductively - on her elaborate chaise

Inviting a traveller's embrace

Holding an invitational apple

Inviting one to sample

Evoking the Venus Victrix

With her sly and wylie tricks

Antonio Canovas creation - reflected grandly in golden framed mirror

Inviting to come nearer

Under crystal chandelier

In a far corner on tall marble pedestal

One's eyes befall

On demure Victorian - youthful - beauty

Lowers her eyes before our gaze

As is her duty

Ringlets held in bands of imagined gold

For a fortune she was sold

These are my companions

Bought at auctions

In the softly glowing light

A collector's delight

Which brighten and heighten

My indoor - inner life

Disregarding all strife

Which greet me

With solemn silence

As I return home from the fray

Each and every day

Fortune cookie says

"Be kind to pigeons -

A statue will be made of you".
