This poem speaks out against the sometimes social problems of hate/racial attitudes which lead to emotional and psychological stresses in our world today.Also this poem is found in my book titled: Before My Time, love to all who read...Enjoy!

FOR TOO LONG GOD HAS BEEN TO SOME ONLY A CLOSET SPIRIT JUST A CLOSET SPIRIT FOR SOME FOLK. FOR TOO LONG FOR SOME FOLK, PREJUDICE HAS BEEN A RELIGION JUST A RELIGION. SOME FOLK PRACTICE IT, AND SOME FOLK FOLLOW THEIR RELIGION FAITHFULLY FOR SOME ... THEN, ... SOME FOLLOW THE LIGHT THEY BEGIN TO SEE SHINE INSIDE OF THEM SO BRIGHT, THAT THEY CAN'T HOLD ONTO THEIR RELIGION SO TIGHT! FOR SOME ... FOR SOME ... The prejudice toward darker skin and other cultures persists in the 21st century in hidden hideous ways, still embedded in institutions as high and mighty as the church, while scientific study and DNA show that we are all one race--the human race.

The only way we can break down this prejudice that goes so deep is to break away from our sheltered enclaves and interact with all people around us. Try not to look down upon or belittle people of lesser wealth or social standing. Put ourselves in their shoes for one day and then say that they are inferior when they show us how really important it is to survive against all odds.

Sorry for this tirade. But it's time we stopped differentiating in hate and celebrating our differences as our strength. I hope your poetry helps change minds.
