Dont burn the Bridge

Over hills and valleys
where you came
searching for a better way is her aim
passing over perils and dangers
that lies below
On the other side
A warm summer breeze blow
where green grass pertrudes
Through the melting snow
On this side there is food to eat
with comfortable places at night to sleep
Out in the plain the children can play
In the soothing beam of the summer sun ray
Back for her belonging she must return
Only to realize the bridge has been burned

Nice one Milton -
Deep and meaningful .
We should leave the return path open ,
who knows we may need to find our way .

bridges are quite often barriers we create by burning them -- humankind attempts not many spans without aid -- peace and love my friend -- Jon Michael

She returned . . . .
To find the bridge burnt. . .
So now it's up to you. . .
To throw her a rope. . . .
If there's any chance of hope.

This poem swayed along. . then POW . .hits hard at the end.

This writing is very thought provoking! Once we burn a bridge, we cannot go back...and that is the sadness... Unlike when we close a door and a new one opens.... Your mind is so alert to the happenings in our lives...and I really appreciate your talent. hugs, lindalaw

Burnt bridges mean forgotten relationships that can no longer be returned to. This poem brought various thoughts to mind, and the lines give much room for reflection.
