"please madam
I'm only trying to tell you the truth."
says the preacher man on the corner.
~
"hmmmph" said the woman,
who looked so wise before she spoke.
"what is truth? I must say in a most negative way,
why do you people manipulate so much?
there is no truth, if the truth be told.
my way is not your way and yours is not mine!
she says in the harshest of tones."
"I have my truth and you have yours!
and so we MUST part our ways.
you live your life and I'll live mine,
until the end of my days."
"you see the truth is like this Quarter"
she pulls it from her pocket.
examining it she says with a cunning smile.
"it always has two sides
mine is the heads and yours the tails
same Quarter, two truths reside"
"and if the truth be told your bothering me
so please as I walk away...
...just leave me be."
~
"oh just one thing madam before you go
Jesus loves you" he says... ever so bold.
~
Her face then turns red, bright as a beat
her anger swells, boils into the street.
then she looks him straight in the eyes,
"get away from me or else...
...I will ram this Quarter down your throat,
then you tell me, if the truth doesn't hurt."
~
"I'm so sorry madam that you feel this way
just one more thing. before you depart today."
~
now here's something for you to ponder
please don't let your feelings get in the way
while you were examining your Quarter and stating your rhyme,
I noticed that cunning smile on your face.
.
~
"so how about this? madam, please don't stop to blink..
the truth is the truth,
should we all stop to think."
"I hear what 'you' say
but that doesn't make sense.
unless your examining a Quarter
and me ten British pence."
"A quarter is a quarter
with one side or two
a quarter is a quarter
and this part is true ."
"Now a quarter could also
be twenty five cents
but a quarter could never
be ten British pence."
"Up is up and down is down,
we all know this is true
down can't be up and up can't be down,
unless your perspective is skewed."
"Now if I'm standing up high
and your standing down low
our perspectives will not be the same.
for my down may be your up,
and your up may be my down.
but the truth is what never will change."
"When you say it is up, for me it is down,
this is what I'm trying to say.
our perspectives may just be a little bit skewed
but the truth is always the same."
"Because my up is still up,
your down is still down.
well, here's where the problem occurs
we all have a difference of opinion
opinion to truth is like spurs."
"The truth is the truth,
and a fact is a fact.
the truth is not something
with which we can make us a pact."
"My way is right, so you Must be wrong,"
is what your words should say.
"the truth has always been bantered about
when ol' Opinion gets in the way."
"so Madam...
please keep your Quarter in your pocket,
it doesn't belong in my throat.
put it to some other good use,
go purchase a bottle of coke."
"and with that I must say madam, you have a great day"
"and jesus still loves you anyway."
and this... is the TRUTH.
~
"huuumph!" she says as she walks away.
