The memory bulleted into my consciousness
with such clarity that I actually reached
for it, certain I could contain it in the palm
of my hand. But the moment my skin
touched thought, it dissolved, evaporated
into all it really was, not what it nearly was,
and I was left with an emptiness,
a longing that only a reminiscence
that intense can elicit.
