an ode to spring

Poem Artwork

leaves in spring are tender occurrences
sprouting heavenward with a vibrance
that the blue jay mimics at my doorway
a warbling caw in ridiculous showmanship
he ruffles feathers and leans in with an intrepid
mannerism as if to dare me to mark his territory.

men and women preen and strut in springtime
as well, after a current of jumping rope and jogging
to prepare for the abundance of potential marketing
that can take place at happy hours, malls, and
in front of street vendors. Hoping Mr. or Mrs. Right
with traverse their path, view silkened tan skin
with fit muscles and lean masses of preponderance.

Then summer arrives like a rouse denoting who
has won the race to coupling before the fall holidays.

Great picture and the poem complements it nicely. Ahhh, but spring is a wonderful time of year.

Thank you Donna, for the imagery and visuals that you presented and those I embrace having heard or read your work. I love communication, and now to have a chance to visit another authors page and see what they see, feel what they feel is a welcomed experience. Thank you for the invitation.
It goes without saying ( and also it stands to reason that I must therefore say it) while the statement is not proper to say or even further more that this is not the proper place to say it, but you too are beautiful, and so intelligent (which is exciting to discover what the mind can comprehend, articulate and ultimately achieve) excuse me now, I have to read another write.

Gorgeous with visuals that delight the senses! Your opening line is grand and one can pause there and need go no further, if wanted, but you draw your reader in with your first sentence so beautifully. What a captivating line! Most enjoyable! Best always, Elizabeth

Thanks for the review Donna.

Very interesting poem. Good write.

I just wrote one about fall has just begun and I'm waiting for Spring already.
Your poem has given me more antisipation of Spring fever.
Blessings,
Judith

spring is indeed a time for propagation ... strange, how we humans ruffle each other's feathers in places like malls, bars and street corners but then again the bounty of nature is so far away what else can we do? ...

uniquely penned spring ode ...

Love the way you send snapshots of both man and wildlife shooting across cyber space to give us a sense of renewed spring energy. Very good lines in this one.

great picture to save. Yes, many up north who have hibernated through the winter will start the outside work to work off the winter coating. Soon we'll have blue birds too! Lady J

A lovely springlike poem -- I wish it would finally come to New Hampshire. Looking outside, it's still raining and the nasty Nor'easter is still upon us here. Ahhh spring, where art thou?
Love,
CJ
