i awoke today thinking of jesus who would have been woken to take his journey to a physical death - it crossed my mind that we often think of the lashes and his ascension to heaven as well as his rebirth - but what of his morning ritual? did he have aches from weary sleep, did he sleep? was his face caked with the remnants of sleep? did he have an opportunity to get a drink and run to the bathroom? the day-to-day that we engage in routine manner our Lord could not even entertain in death. i don't think i do the concept justice - but it is my attempt to capture an essence.

Poem Artwork

~he carried his weight~

-|-

the poet - man of parables

cellblock rested

performed spoken words

truth – peace - unuttered by carrion

referred to sons / daughters

of god in a heaven

 -|-

friday morning, sky murky,

tinge of grey, potential rain.

rousting giants – jarred him

the poet - he stood.

a not so well respite

left him weary, aching.

 -|-

sleepy man eyes with

no opportunity to

brush teeth, comb hair.

through a doorway shoved

awareness | acceptance

torture she is the brutality of love.

 -|-

crossing dry ground sandy footed.

Prodded and demeaned.

leather strained flesh struck

bones that lay barely hidden

passerby euphemisms spat as

the poet spoke of laments,

-|-

incongruence, internal messages

truths - reflections

shone from rivers, ponds, or

shiny objects compiled riches

realizations – knowledge - undesirables

drugged with destiny

 -|-

carried his weight

over tormented body

through village paths

hills and plateaus - aiding

that burial called death

pierced and watching

 -|-

vain repetitions - impalements,

salty quenches of thirst

a poets glance - in wretched pain.

expressions of love, siblings tender,

immortals glances – he uttered

the final physical quatrain.

 -|-

it is done.

Our Lord?
You are Christian Donna?
I never would have guessed.
Jesus a Poet? The God of the universe in flesh relegated to being a poet? I don't know Donna. An interesting postulation though.

I do believe that He was One given to speaking in Holy Spirit inspired riddles (parables) to His own; those who embraced Him as the Christ, the son of the Living God. And the Holy Spirit was He who allowed the listener to understand the deeper spiritual truths of what the average pagan earth-dweller, and phylactery bound Jew never could.

Doing justice to this concept (as you mentioned in your prologue) is certainly relative. In order for one to understand your heart and intentions they would have to have their understanding opened up by the Holy Spirit. This write effectively changed my opinion of you.

Quite the contrary, you have done him justice through your heartwrenching words of sincerity. Jesus suffered like no other before or after. Wishing you and your family a most spiritual Easter....

Beautiful writing of our Savior's last hours on earth. I especially liked the third stanza, because it makes Him seem that much more real.
