The pain of childhood ......

Poem Artwork

Is that her own body cannot carry the wisdom of a true being ..... she hides sheltered within the mass of church,

Searching ....

holding the burdens upon her own cross,

She says to love, but yet has never showed the true meaning,

she gave conditioned love,

willowing thru her own pain,

She left her children, empty, alone and confused,

a perfect reminder of her own childhood pain,

So sorry ...... I am for you !

But its my turn now,

No longer do I ask why I was thrown to the streets to survive on my own,

those answers only my own soul can define,

I have seen true love and the witnessed the great beginning,

the power within, my spirit is whole,

truth has opened my eyes,

I have recieved the answer thru my own reflection,

watching from a distance,

the destiny of my immortal soul,

my force of endless dignity,

I am vigilant to shifting time,

The soles of my shoes have traveled the many miles,

worn, tired, exhausted, abused and battered,

while you watched and did nothing to help,

but preach about the vows I took,

saying I would go to hell, if I broke them,

Sorry I disappoint you,

a preacher explaned I am God's Child,

and I have only one lifetime,

I cannot waste it on one who treats me with no dignity,

as a prisoner, a servant, who abuses my children,

I was not made for that,

I stand in solitude on a platform now,

thy ocean holds one ship,

I have boarded, without you,

far from your conditioned ways,

you shut the door on my heart,

don't ask for me to open it to you,

I have watched the scenes being played,

empty love being passed,

the sour tongue, looking for sugar,

turning my siblings into enemies,

breaking the true links on the chain of life,

snarled like barbedwire,

pointing fingers and becoming the goose without an egg,

so cold you are to me, your so called daughter,

I am needed only when you feel the need,

wanted when tears drown your eyes,

or emptiness becomes a stronghold,

Are you hoping I cry, and fall back into that agonized trap ..... ,

not likely, I've grown older and wiser,

I shed no tears from my eyes,

I have found peace within my own soul,

joy with my children, you never knew,

but yet I gave you that chance,

I have become a whole being without you,

joyfully living, at peace now, knowing I am Loved by God,

seems you call only when death draws near,

and your troubled soul, wants forgiveness,

Sorry, but I've wrapped my heart with a shield,

holding the ones who have enjoyed life with me ...... dear,

sometimes I even pray for you,

since I have disappointed you in your human eyes,

your tie with me has become very frail,

I want or need nothing from you,

you have lost touch with your own eternal spirit,
passing thru clouds of dust grey,

searching for my words of comfort,

life is nearing short,

I saw your headstone at the graveyard,

" A mothers love is forever "

I wouldn't know, I never felt that from you,

it feels cold when I go there,

my spirit stands content, my soul unbreakable,

I have locked the doorway to my heart,

seems I no longer yearn for your so called love,

I have since past those yesteryears,

I have entered, thy ship,

boarded my new destiny,

alone within eternal joy and peace,

turning back would only destroy my true spirit,

you grasp the anchor while I'm being lifted,

you want me to reach for you and pull you in,

on the dock I hear others, "she cannot come"

until her soul is true ly filled,

and her heart is ointed with oils,

this vessel is not hers to stand upon,
she is lost in a world of her own,
between the time zone,

I heard your wails,

but I leave them deafened.

I turn and look away, suddenly hearing the rope break,
distance has been yours to hold,

On the dock in which I stand,
I am wrapped with only unconditional love,
spared ..... for my time is thru,
I have found my own destiny,

                                                    WITHOUT YOU !

This is indeed a strong and vibrant write filled with the reality of an abused victim who refused to remain a victim. It is on the long side and I would suggest trying to shorten it a little or perhaps doing in two segments. Sadly all too often really good writes with really inportant messages are over looked because of their length, doing two parts and posting one a day may catch more readers. I am glad I seen you today and added you to my tracking lise, look forward to reading more from you in future.

Valerie, I want you to know how your poem touched my heart as well. I could feel all of your pain and your strength. I share this same anguished childhood with you. The sweet release is knowing that we are smart, grown, women, who deserve a love and will find a love, in which our parents were not and are not capable of doing. Your poems reflects the fact that you moved on...that's what we must do, is move on and grow strong and NOT parent the way we were parented. We must break the cycle and I commend you for showing me and others, that we are NOT alone, but can overcome. Peace to you and thank you. Karen
