I buy my clothes at thrift shops.
I know their owners all by name.
I prefer my attire recycled.
There’s nothing wrong with sharing things.
I don’t care if my clothes are cast offs.
I wore my brother’s hand-me-downs.
As long as collars aren’t too frayed,
As long as cuff don’t drag the ground.
There’s no reason to be embarrassed.
I know the price will bring a smile.
And though I might be dressed for the ‘70s,
Sooner or later I’m back in style!
I love the attitude expressed in this poem. It shines like a well-worn denim that people pay big bucks for to have brand-new products abused to look used… Go figure?
All that cheap polyester ended up on the backs of garment workers sewing designer clothes in other countries… Go figure?
I love the thrift shops and do much of my shopping there. Why pay top prices for quality when you can get the same quality for a fraction ...and it has to be better than all that cheap polyester.

This collection of poetry addresses the nature of time, reflections on the natural world, the difficulty of loss,
contemporary social issues and gratitude for life.
All that cheap polyester ended up on the backs of garment workers sewing designer clothes in other countries… Go figure?
