It snuck free today.

I wasn’t watching

and the hairy little

beast slipped out.

I thought the imp

was dead and gone;

but no he was there

hiding in the open

I guess.  Suddenly I

was seized by the

unburnt anger over

slights and injuries

past.  Too often

I’ve taken the blame

while shameless others

refuse all account

even for the air

that they breathe.

The imp was cleaver,

quick and brazen,

but sluggish and

quickly overcome.

The hairy little beggar

tipped his hand too

soon, or he’d have

led me a merry chase.

For now he will have

a hard time getting

away. On the other

hand, he’s still there.

 He’s still there snacking

on leftovers of business

unfinished, feasting on

fresher meat.  I shall need

to watch my anger,

no more sucking it up,

no more being strong

or I’ll have the hairy

one to deal with.
