A mothers song for her child lost by war.

Poem Artwork

Gone are those days of gentle contemplation, where nothing seemed real but the day that faded into evening light. A struggle to reach beyond, all those things I thought I knew but never understood them to be true .
Barely a moment, just a moment, so it seemed in quest for timeless love a prefect beginning were never winter becomes my spring just, a moment to lie my head upon your couch that is all I need. Yet I want to see, feel, cry and laugh, just know before winter once again covers the glen. .
Reflections mirrored in my tears strained with hope, I watched and waited, and winter came and covered the glen. I grew old, mirror I grew old. The spring brought more than life blooming; the war had come to an end.
I awoke moist breath upon my cheek , a childs lipps  between the pinwheel. Winter came no more upon the glen he came home and I cried knowing ill never ever be alone,  I cried  you have become a man. They brought you home  to your glen.

Eugene, the joy as she woke
warms me to experience this through your words
but also the beating of her hearts worry weighs heavy
a hard place to be for our children...and the child

The last verse is absolutely heart-wrenching. A sadness fills me as I feel the wait that precedes it, and the mixture of horror and bravery in the dear mother who receives her dead son.

A powerful message about those left behind waiting for loved ones to hopefully return intact from war. There is always a "war" and this nicely crafted poem, will always be timeless.

Intimate and fluent, the style so appropriate for the moment and for the feelings eloquently delivered.

Reunited with the season's warm hearth to fire your soul, taken with a warm mug of hot-spiced cider Eugene...the longing turns into the hardness of reality...I hear a bit of Lionel Ritchie here in song in Winter on the glen.

Warmly,
Sage
