I had an email from a far away friend. Despite his current life changing experiences and trauma, he is such an inspiration to me and his courage is a testament to his humanity as a person and the human spirit.
I am truly honored to be his friend.

I’m scared
but I do not run.
I’m sad
but I do not cry.
I smile
but I am not happy.
I’m worried
but I will not lose my mind.
I’m broken…
but not beaten.
I expose my heart for you
