In the wake of war against terrorism, the world seems to be stepping into a new century of crime.
The world is in a war-footing
It is fighting a war of terror
Two groups are on the war stage
I happened to come in-between
I opened a debate for the two parties
With an open heart I listened their plea
Each one pointed a finger to the other
Each one said the other is a terrorist
One said they are Moslem fundamentalists
The other said they are Christian/Jew extremists
I dug into the depths of their holy books
I wanted to know which one contained hatred
What I found out was quite amazing
All the books emanated from same source
In them the divine verses were very clear
They teach how to love and live in peace
Religious difference was not a big issue
Similarity of their greed was the problem
One group wants to politicize religion
They want to put religion under politics
The other wants to religionize politics
They want to put politics under religion
They are on parallel lines never to meet
Where will this impasse leave us, poets?
Both the Bible and Q'uran make references to violence. But the Bible does not call for killing brothers and sisters in the future. Amen

Abdi-Noor, such wisdom. To live justly, to love mercy, to walk humbly with God.... there is no room for politics where a heart is truly overwhelmed by love. We remind each other of that as we speak; let us talk and share, and we will find, to our surprise, that oneness and love from God waits for us.

PS - the poet is in the best position! I understand Muhammed pbuh wrote such striking poetry, especially in his teaching of balance and return. So Jesus talked in poems, and some of his best known sayings are nothing but poems spoken by a man filled with the presence of God. The poet brings us hope; keep brnging us your hopes!
So ironically true, Abdi-Noor, yet it seems that most conflicts throughout mankind's history have often been fueled and sparked by religion somehow. And I truly wonder if mankind will ever learn.

You have written this profound piece with a voice of reason, based on research, and delivered it with gentle, wise, NON-combative words, Abdi-Noor.
Those who do not listen or learn or wish to stand back and look are so consumed with hate that it has blinded them. Truth needs embracing... it exudes the answers and a wondrous warmth. I am in complete awe of what you've brought us with this magnificent poem. I will save it in my library, to read to others and to savor for myself, as well. katy xox
THAT, my friend, is a loaded question; both the Bible and Q'uran make references to violence. The problem is with man and his translation of the scriptures and applying it to their own judgemental lives: taking revenge on anyone not in agreement, when God clearly said in His Word that revenge is His alone. Very powerful, thought provoking write--keep searching for the truth and sharing it with us less than fortunate. Perhaps, one day, we will work for peace, together...one can only pray.

There's the key. There is a solution, if people are willing to put their actions where their preaching is. Neither side can claim superiority or religion unless ready to do this, and really listen.
Thank you Abdi Noor for this inspired write. Wisdom spoken from within your spirit. It is a clear and intelligent premise that I agree with. It is also the reason we should all be in prayer, because I fear there is no answer other than one from Creator in this situation!Men who think they are fighting for God cannot be reached by humanity!They cannot be reasoned with! Each thinks they are on a true and righteous course. That is our dilemma! Creator help us, for no one else can!Only if people come together collectively in record numbers in every nation and call on the great I Am,will there be any change!
