I have been deeply touched by a poetryjazz staged at the Växjö Library in Sweden during the opening of the Fristad Växjö (Växjö Free City) on the evening of 25 September2012. It was my first time to see poetry (The Word) and music (The Sound) go together to produce a harmonious melody. I tried to figure out how I feel and perceive this marvellous combination and came up with a poem that depicts the union of "Sound and Word" as a love relationship. My deep appreciation comes from the way the music begins and how the words hide and then emerge from a distance like teenagers testing each other. I have particularly viewed this relationship of "Word and Sound"as a continuous process of change quite similar to that of seasons.

In the first part of the poetryjazz, Word and the Sound fall in a love of infatuation and I called it "Spring" but as time goes by they move to a more stable relationship--Summer. Then comes a stage when their love goes deeper which can’t be shaken by mere winds of time and I called that stage: Autumn. This is followed by Winter which marks the end of the couple´s relationship.

I dedicate this poem to the Växjo City for being a safe haven and a sanctuary for the writers who are at risk of being prosecuted by virtue of their artistic endeavours. I wish here to thank the Mayor of Växjö City , Bo Frank for being the dynamic force of change in Växjo and for offering the writers a freedom to write as freely as they please. I also wish to thank the coordinator of Fristad Växjö project, Maria Björn, ICORN, International Cities Of Refuge, Växjo Bibliotek, organizers of Express Yourself exhibition, and guest writer and poetess Easterine Kire from Tromsö, Norway together with her two brilliant musicians.

Spring:

This is love
It is a true love
It is a youthful romantic frenzy
One hides as the other seeks
It is the spring of a love season
It is the age of joy

Summer:

The marvels of sweet love descends
As partners meet in sound harmony
In love they caress and kiss joyfully
Getting passionately intertwined
Enjoying the glow of their love flame
It is the summer of a love season
It is the age of beauty

Autumn: Age of wisdom

The soothing waves of an ocean love rise
As they touch the lover’s soul in ecstasy
Reaching the summit of a love mountain
Drinking from the fountains of tolerance
Reaping fruits of love from a wisdom tree
It is the Autumn of a love season
It is an age of wisdom

Winter: End of a Cycle

Their romantic fire slowly becomes cold
Dying under the ash of its long history
Till silence takes charge at full swing
Making everybody feel the impact
As the cycle of love comes to an end
