My crazy Facebook friends gave me 19 topics to write 19 poems and I'm trying to do it in 19 days. This is #5 of 19.

#5 of 19 - Topic Suggested By Jen Dunlap

A steel ball thrust forth spins around and around

The laws of physics are alive in the gravitational funnel

So velocity happens automatically and bows to the sound

Faster and faster, rotating, pulling it down

Toward the center and its ultimate destiny

If the ball keeps up this motion, there's only one place it's bound

And so it is with what we cultivate in our passion

It can't help but become our future

That concentrated dropping point always in the same fashion

Here or there, the action is the telltale sign

Where the ending point will be

It doesn't take a scientist to predict someone's life

The steel ball cannot stop momentum anymore than

We can stop consequences of our decisions

It has been that way since time began

If we cultivate hate, envy and greed

The motion of those things will surely tell

The destiny of our lives will be easy to see

But if we cultivate love, compassion and giving

Then what we give away comes back

And our lives will be worth the living

So care about what you worship and adore

Because those things are taking you somewhere

The forces in motion will become more and more

Apparent to all who have eyes

They can tell what we do in private, in the dark

By the fruits that we bear in the light

Excellent work. In regards to Destiny, it is a road we have to follow or risk never tasting its fruits

An interesting view of karma. The steel ball of fate.

Excellent! You are so right, our deepest, sometimes darkest thoughts invariably come to bear as we grow into adulthood.
