What will be will be

 Forever More

© 4.25.15 Sherry Bach

I never thought that I'd still be here

The thought of your kiss, why do I care?

But care I do, I don't know how

To let you go, it's as if by now

I should have moved passed the way you captured me

I should have run fast, the way it's supposed to be

You proved your point by turning away

To other lovers, but they wouldn't stay

I tried to forget but I can't even

Get you outta my head, what is the meaning?

Say the words, make me aware

Connect the dots, do you dare?

Not over it still falling, can't shut out your eyes

It's not a delusion, it was real, it wasn't lies

That crawled into my soul leaving nowhere to hide

Come to me, come to me, my love and my life

Let me make it real, let me understand

My soul longs to feel the touch of your hand

The truth and the trick elude the most reason

The warmth of your spirit will, in due season

Find its way home, find a key to every door

And whatever we are, will be forever more

When the 'one' comes along....finally the memory will be all but erased...
If not, time heals they say...but I have found...it really does...
However, perhaps surprisingly....
The 'one' could turn out to be yourself!
Love,
Diana....

It's always interesting to read these comments and get others' take on a piece...sometimes the projected message is not commensurate to what I'm feeling but once a piece is conceived, whether it is exactly what I wanted to say or not, the path is cleared and I must follow it. Writing is probably the only area of my life where I allow myself this...a total freedom to explore...the consequences are minimal, the results sometimes amazing.

What will be will be,
even when we're left behind,
but there's hope in tomorrow,
for a troubled mind.

I agree with Jerry. Some bittersweet thoughts expressed in this poem. While it's hard to go out on your own, it's probably for the best. Once you've discovered that you can live well by yourself, others will notice and want to join you.

Oh boy, this is self punishment to the nth. I understand it. I wish I didn't but I do, and it is a horrible way to live, constantly remembering our lovers who have gone on. They may have gone on, but we can't do the same. Time. Even time can't erase our vivid memories. I understand it, but I am fortunate to have found myself, and actually have another love. So there is hope.
