The Holy Dove
As his fist collides with my chin
All I know is that I cannot win.
My baby sleeps on upstairs
Tucked away in the land of the bears.
I hear a sound
As I fall to the ground.
I see her on the stairs
Not that he cares.
He carries on
Until the light has gone.
Maybe I have won
Now we would only have fun.
She sits and cries
His fist flies.
Dragged down by her hair
I thought he used to care.
She whimpers and whines
He makes her write lines
One mistake
The miss-spelling of the word lake.
He punches her on the chin
The neighbours hear the din.
And still they glare
Gossipers greet
Why did she bring this to our street?
The don’t care about my girl
They stand and watch as our despair does unfurl
One moment of peace of love
Before I see the holy dove
Come to rescue us from the hell
All bad memories left at the well.

Welcome to AD, I can totally relate to this poem. I have been a victim of domestic violence (8 years ago). I am free and safe and healthy and happy. Tell your friend to leave, and never look back.
You write a very tender sad poem here, but one that will touch many of your readers.
I wish you peace, love, and light,
Amber "V"
Tight write, great rhyme and meter.
But the subject makes ones blood boil.
Very graphic visuals.
Great to see you on here young lady.
GTG, on the hoof...
