My eyes drooled

as I captured

the image,

sliding it

 in and out

of my eyes.

A crucified

civilization

- heads lolling

to one side,

as the Christ

on the cross

- split open

down the middle,

where humanity

flickered

through the

 dipping blood

- too slippery

to be hooked.

I jumped

out of my window,

heart in hand,

howled like

 Allen Ginsberg

for a while,

and ran around

the city,

 heart hanging

out of my chest

… hoping to see

and sense,

the contrived flavors

of the humanity,

at least.

.
