Dad, calling your name, as things are just not the same nor ever will be since you are gone.
It is one of the hardest things to ever face when your parents are no longer there.
I look back onto all the fond memories and such a happy life that we shared and that they sure gave to me, as I always remember sitting on my daddies knee and he told me stories
Then other times, as I sat on his knee he said to me, “Everything will be alright “,as he held me tight.
Furthermore, after many beatings I took from my now ex husband.
My dad was right there and a few times sure stepped up to the plate pulling this man with his swinging fists of fury off me, as he saved me from more harm and fought for me at that moment.
Although there were a few times that he was not around, as I was kicked to the ground .
Afterwards, he was there at my side wiping tears from my battered eyes and he told me, “This is no way for my daughter to live and I do believe that a hero awaits”.
However, I come to realize throughout my life, that he was actually a hero in many ways, not just because he fought in World War Two.
But because he was always there and showed how much he cared.
Mainly, when I was living in daily despair, he and I became the perfect pair.
He told me, “One day your dreams will come true and there is someone out there that will not hurt you, but love you the right way and not break your heart each day”.
I sure miss my dad a lot and not a day goes by that he is not thought of.
Especially, since I never knew my real father, as he abandon my mother when he learned she was expecting me. Therefore, a hero did step up to the rescue and saved the day and so many along the way.
To this day I know that even though he was my grandfather biologically, no other could have been greater and I’m very glad that he was truly my dad.
Furthermore, that man actually saved my life in everyway and I will always be thankful for the day that he adopted me,as he told me the same.
Since the adoption was final on his birthday and he told me, “This was the best birthday gift that anyone could ever receive having a daughter”.
So, I hope that you can hear me dad as you need to know that you were the hero to me.
Your dad may inspire other men as they read what you have written about him. He surely saved you from despair and served as the rock you needed in your life. What a wonderful dad he was!
A true man with heart, he stepped up to the plate in every way, this is compassionate and grips my heart Laura, he will be smiling down on you on Father's Day, as he does every day!

It is so sad that you had to go through so much. But then, your adopted father was always there for you when you really needed someone. Continue to honor him and all men like him.
i choose to believe that he hears each and every one or your beautiful words...how lucky you both were to havee had each other. celebrate him with yoour happiest memories on father's day...each day!
As a father and one who loved and still loves his child unreserved I would like to think that she thinks of me, will maybe not as a hero, but as someone who is always there for her and whom she can count on.

Small children, when they scrape their knees, come looking for someone to show; and, even though the scrape is no less bleeding, the showing to another who gives care is more a bandaid than the bandaid. "Share" is a word that I find to be nearly as essential to human life as is 'food,' and your offering this writing I believe not only cradles your wound, but the wounds of those who read it. Laura, though you and I have never actrually met, here, on authors Den, I feel as a friend and, as a friend, this story of the times you were hurt and this story of the wonderful man that came to your rescue both, as a child and then, as an adult, truly touched me.
