Standing by the red gate, a weather-beaten Scouser
I saw the ghost of John Lennon in Strawberry Fields
You're not rough sleeping, are you, mate?
Looking a bit pale, because you’re a shade
Some people find no rest beyond the grave
In Strawberry Fields, I saw the ghost of John Lennon
And there was no music playing, except the call
Of the rooks and the ravens
I think I'll be safer at Penny Lane.
