While thinking about the negative influences that contribute to the delinquency of minors, I was inspired to write this poem.

"ALWAYS A STUDENT"


Whether we're chatting with a scholar
or cooing with an infant,
we're always a student.

Whether we're sitting in a physical classroom
or sitting in the park,
we're always a student.

Whether we're intentionally learning
or inadvertently exposed,
we're always a student.

Whether we're watching television
or hobnobbing with felons,
we're always a student.

Once a bell has been rung,
there's no erasing what was heard
because we're always a student.

For these reasons,
we must always be selective
in how we spend our time
because we are always a student.
