Thank you God for giving me life
It may not be exactly how I’d like to live it
But it’s certainly not as bad as it seems
And it’s definitely a wonderful and beautiful gift

I could sit here and recount so many things
Some of them good, and some of them bad
But I can say this one thing I know that I know
It’s that if I hadn’t come this far I’d be sad

So as I look around at everything I haveThe thing I’m most blessed by is my life
I’m living and that’s more than some can say
And I’ve been privileged to rise above the strife

I think about the family that you placed in my care
And I love them more with every passing day
But I know a few women who can’t even conceive
And it’s for them that I’ve learned to pray

I meditate on the husband that you destined for me
He’s a good man and I know it was You who sent him
If it wasn’t for the hard times that we’ve faced together
It would be yet another failure and my life more grim

So I’m thanking you Lord for the things I now have
And I’m thanking you also for the things you’ve taken away
Because I now understand that life is about balance
And without the scale tipping I wouldn’t know how to pray

I thank you, God, for the blessing of good health
I thank you, God, for the blessing of friends
I thank you, God, for the blessing of peace
I thank you, God, for the beauty I’ve found within

I thank you, God, for everything that I know
And I thank you, God, for everything that I am
I thank you, God, for restoring the shambles that were
And I thank you, God, for sacrificing the Lamb

I thank you, God, for calling me unto Yourself
I thank you, God, for using me as You see fit
I thank you, God, for seeing what You see in me
I thank you, God, for bestowing upon me this gift
