Mushroom Theatre

I spent a week in a heavily concentrated area of Mennonites a week ago. After a conversation with a Menno pastor/friend I came away knowing I never want to live in a "Menno Mecca."

Mushroom Theatre

Lines drawn in the desert sands of time

Sun days filled with heatred melting

Golden language skewed in tabernacle

Meetings with f***ed up thoughts of God.

Piled high in long mushroom houses of shit

Mennonite pastors fly dark flags of love

Creatively cursing sacred creative life

Harrisonburg mecca of black clothed souls.

Pacifistic lines across war torn homogeneity

Stop intruders bringing tithes of theological

Surprises to red tents of Mennonite popes

For the grand exposé of war-crimes hidden.

The Greek and Hebrew in a whirlwind mix

Pneuma and dabar bend theology f***ed

Without cause nor reason toward interpretation

Of life in a theatre of compassion-filled mimes.

From what I read, your deeply satirical poem is helping to reveal the true cult-ure of the Mennonite world. Having descended from some old order Amish, I'm finding the TV reality soap opera, Amish Mafia, quite interesting.

Now that the Mennonites have moved into central Wisconsin, buying up farmland and ripping out the electricity and other conveniences from the farmhouses, how do they withstand two weeks of 20 below zero? Potbelly stoves don't do a very good job of heating an uninsulated house. Ask my relatives who live there.

They are like mushrooms in what I read here......kept in the "dark" and fed a lot of "shit".
