The Magic Pen

I dreamed of a magic pen
That recorded every word I thought
That could tell stories of all my past
And threatened to write my future too.

I trembled to learn what it knew,
But there was no mistaken truth,

I awaited the words it would reveal,
Mindful of everything I always said.

I tried to fix broken promises,
But situations prevented that.

So I dreamed that the magic pen
Would have mercy and forgive
Since it knew my heart inside and out
And it had the power to amend.
