Very heartwarming…
(I once grew some Pumpkin seeds and although there were several
of the most amazing apricot coloured flowers…hinting at a bountiful
crop…only one Pumpkin grew…but they are absolutely fascinating
to grow…little green tendrils clinging on where they can for balance…
We really treasured the one that grew…it was carefully carved and
we had a delicious Pumpkin soup, and the seeds were toasted in the oven!
aww this is really sweet. we don'thave this tradition but your piece got me curious if there's actually a pumpkin yard and 3 pumpkins that inspired this piece, and how they look like after carving them.
A fun reminder of days when most of us lived in rural America with the harvest at hand and always a couple of pumpkins we grew ourselves.
But I'm stuck in the middle of suburbia where I can buy pumpkins at the local supermarket but have to drive at least 50 miles before I could find rural harvests and pumpkins growing in the fields. It's a shame we don't have Halloween in the city like we used to. Just a party at our community center so that the kids will not be bothered on the street or given poison in their treats.
