My Canada

When I think of my Canada I think of a country strong and free.
A country filled with empathy for the world around us.
My Canada is one of vast lands of beauty.
From Newfoundland to British Columbia my Canada offers the best
in wildlife, parks, rich history and people who welcome one
another with great pride.
My Canada is a multi-cultural land. The Native People’s are an important
part of this beautiful country. They were the first on our soils.
We are a bilingual country, one that upholds the French language
not only in the province of Quebec but in all provinces.
My Canada welcomes foreigners to our country. We allow them
to live in a free and democratic land.

My Canada has its faults just like so many other countries do.
However, we find our way out of such faults. And whether it is
an ice storm, fierce flooding, unspeakable crimes or
damages caused to our wildlife, or the economic issues we unite
because we are Canada. We are a young country. We have a lot
of growing to do, we will as we have in the past. Our children will carry
on the traditions of the Canadian ways. Some good, some not so good,
but they too will learn just as our forefathers did.

My Canada does not support suffering, hunger, homelessness,
neither abuse nor any other problems of this nature. It cannot,
nor should it allow any single citizen to live in fear, distress or anxiety.
In retrospect my Canada should and must be a country that reaches
out to the needs of senior citizens, students, young people, those who
are unfortunately disabled, and the homeless.
If we allow our Canada to separate in society to an extent of rich/poor
then we will become a third world. Those who have been lucky enough
to find their way here from a third world country will tell us
our country is too rich for such matters to take place.

My Canada shares in all facets of life, to every Canadian. It’s young
Canadian heart cares for its citizens. The leadership should become
one that will put the people first, yet using wisdom with empathy.
Not one sector of life favored over the other, no my Canada believes
in fairness. Is this all just a fantasy? Is this not reality? One hopes that
our Canada truly does fit into the words of these words written, after all
is not this the way we want my Canada to be now and forever?
