Cats on the Hill
Dorothy Krusky
Oh, how they strut their stuff
for all the tourists to see
those well fed cats on Parliament hill.
There sits one in a disguise
a black and white patchwork face
he greets the people every day.
Look at the lazy, orange tabby
with one open slit eye he peers
he pretends he doesn't see.
His ears alert to every sound
as children run all around
he purrs when given such affections.
A nervous, small grey cat
slinks back into the deep brushes
too many people, he is most timid.
The tiny playful hands
of youngsters eager to play
so innocent they grab at his fur.
Oh the demure white cat
sits licking her perfect paws
after eating little treats so yummy.
The strangest cat on the hill
is the tortoise-shell beauty
he's sound asleep in the kitty litter.
His body it's all contorted
is he sleeping on his back
or is he on his side?
Nothing bothers this scruffy cat
the people have come to know him
as the eldest amoung the felines.
Yes, the tourists how they flock
from countries far and wide
the cats become the main attraction.
When visiting Canada's capitol city
you'll note it's the cats on Parliament hill
that are the most visited of all.

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D
Cats on Parliament hill are great, but they can't beat the 15 in my house (Arizona room)! Thank you for being an animal lover.
Anyone want a newborn kitty?
