Having come of age back in the era of Walter Cronkite and the Huntley/Brinkley Report, I find that today's television news readers lack any trace of those gentlemen's gravitas. I wrote this in a snit after watching a couple of these bobbleheads report on some awful calamity without ever losing their vacuous smiles.

Twinkie 'n Coatrack, sakes alive!

Bring you the news every night at five,

straight from the imbecile TV hive.

Twinkie 'n Coatrack: Junk 'n Jive.

Look at that guy, he's Mister Kewl.

Hairspray and teeth, his Golden Rule.

Too bad he's such an egregious fool.

Johnny McCoatrack, network tool.

Perky blonde Twinkie, pretty, too.

Eyes a fantastically empty blue.

Ignorant creature without a clue.

Show off your legs, Miss Twinkie-poo!

Twinkie 'n Coatrack, from the heart.

Don't let the teleprompt fail to start.

Neither can ad lib; they're not too smart.

Twinkie 'n Coatrack, fall apart.

Twinkie 'n Coatrack, dumb as cheese.

Silly ephemeral showbiz fleas.

Terminal Intellect Rot Disease.

Twinkie 'n Coatrack?

Spare me.

Please!

LW

Lannie,
the little bimbos, male and female, on our screens are just pawns...they read the soundbytes they've been given...yes, your poem makes a real and valid point, but look at the masters who own and run the tv stations, they're the ones calling the shots and misleading the lot of us for their own agendas.

Lannie, you need a verse for the 'foul weather freddie' the weather guy, and Bunkus McSnort who does sports. Great write.

Dan

This is just adorable! It sends me back to being a girl watching The Mary Tyler Moore Show, is that bonkers?
Namaste,

Damn write! ...er...right! News isn't news anymore. It is only a "news show." Bring back the Cronkites! ...O well, I guess since I don't own a tv, I can't really complain.

Peace,
Dayvid
