My dear, dear friend of the fireside,
Where have you gone? Where do you hide?
When can we go play that Bingo game?
How will Letterfrack ever be the same?
Can I meet you at Veldon’s as you deal out the cards?
Can I get you some turf from back in the yard?
Can I fix a hot toddy with an extra shot or two?
Can I sneak an “awl’ fag?” Sure, you won’t mind if I do.
Or let’s meet at The Bards and have a “jar” or a pint,
And listen to the Ceili band as it plays all night.
The bodhrán and uilleann pipes will sing out their tune,
And if we leave at closing, it will be too soon!
Or let’s play Scrabble, a challenge of the minds.
And if my years are less, there’s no question of time.
For being with you is like being with a friend,
And if it is a question of time—may it never end.
Now call in the neighbours! Let’s celebrate!
With magic and balloons and mysteries great!
Where did that ball go? Where is the coin?
Yes! Call them all in! You know that they’ll join!
For you are the matriarch, you are the soul,
Of this home and this hearth and this family of old.
With a heart that beats steady and constant and true ,
No Josephine, there will never be another you!
And when they’ve all gone, let me share my life:
The laughter, the tears, the joys and the strife.
There is nothing I can tell you, that you won’t understand.
There is nothing to high or too low or too grand.
And if we seem to be far and oceans away,
We can still hear all that the other has to say.
For there’s a line that connects us that ends in 1051,
No Josie, it’s not over. It will never be done.
And as long as there’s The Diamond and Ducrach and light,
As long as there’s Connemara and God in His might,
There will always be you, my dear fireside friend.
You’ll remain in my heart. We’ll meet again.
Love Always,
Beth

You did her justice and that's all you could do. She would love it.
