I hear you stirring,
Rustling in the bathroom half a household away,
Are your thoughts still with me,
Oh fairest one,
As we learn the lesson of patience
In the empire of the sun;
Thirty years of our lovely memories
And yet we still pick up the telephone
Simultaneously three times every day.
Who ever would have dreamed that our love affair
Would be measured in decades?
Even now,
We may yet never imagine its end
For when sailing on a dream
While battling adversity extreme,
Joy still lingers in the air.
I am blessed I know
No longer a fallow soul
No more wailing
To the gods at dawn;
I would have sold my essence
For comfort - once,
But it could not be had for any recompense -
So I was left only to observe -
Near victims to the lovers of sin.
And now with gratitude
I can only describe,
For the love in my heart
Which has salvaged my life,
For they are two parallel
Sentiments
It seems,
Sharing yourself,
Within our wild imaginings,
And at the center of the joy
Which I know is you,
Is our grand love which has grown some too,
And into the nights
Our time together
Has taken flight,
And in this world
Where all life ends
Is our love which is pure
And endures without end.
