Redemption at a Glance

Poem Artwork

Like all who have walked this hallowed earth,
Save one,
Our souls are abraded with savage sin,
Like long-held debt,
Not yet retired,
We are scarred with the failure of our mortal ways.

Were it not for sanctified redemption, itself,
We would be bound over
Forsaking, indeed, all material wealth,
But we are no lesser than our fellow man,
Nor greater,
As we grudgingly grow older
And abandon, finally, our errant plans.

No more deliberate sin,
No betrayal, no vengeance,
No envy ever grim,
Only precious time so alive
To take a moment
And look deeply inside,
Defining the character we have grown.

Just as an hourglass recently turned,
We must honor the right,
The lessons we have learned,
And pilot our ships upon deadly seas,
Protecting our crew
In every degree.

It is redemption, however,
That greatest gift we’ve received,
Which shepherds our course
Unto eternity,
And while we strive evermore
To be the best that we can,
It is redemption alone,
Offering a helping hand,
Bringing hope straightaway
To the sinful man.
