Cat Alley, Manch Vegas

There is an alley in Manchester NH known as Cat Alley. This was inspired by a John Clayton article on it's history.

It was a fall night

With a crispness in the air

In that alley.

The moon shone brightly

And Molly and Sam

Sat on the window sill

Soaking up the moonshine

And enjoying each others

Company.

Molly was beautiful with her

Fluffy white fur and her perky

Pink nose.

She thought Sam was the

Handsomest dude in the neighborhood

With his orange striped suit

And his big green eyes.

They often sat together

In the evening to watch the comings

And goings on Elm Street and

Share stories of their day.

As they sat that night,

They did not know

Old black Gumdrop was

Strutting down the alley

With one thought on his evil mind;

To take the pretty Molly

for his own.

As he got close to the window

Sam and Molly were lost in their thoughts.

He suddenly crouched down, and leaping, flew

To the windowsill. With his powerful paw he

Gave  a startling slap, causing Sam to tumble .

Gumdrop flew down behind and jumped on his back,

Screeching and hollering and rolling around.

Sam screeched and hollered too.

The battle was wild and horrific, and no man in his

Right mind would dare put his hand into that fray.

Then it was over- as quickly as it had

Begun…. Old Gumdrop slinked down the alley,

Stopping occasionally to lick his wounds.

Sam leaped back to his sweet Molly and patted her face

And whispered sweet nothings into that pretty ear.  To this Night you can find their ancestors

Still prowling around Manch Vegas.

That’s why they call it Cat Alley.

Fabulous tale of a hero fighting for his love, overcoming the evil Gumdrop and comforting his Sweet Molly. Great imagery.
