14 February, 2013 THE BEAST
Now I am become the beast
Ugly, misshapen, ravening
The object of my late night obsessions,
Delicious, hidden, forbidden longings
Striving to become reality
Like an ancient, decaying mummy
Pounding on his sarcophagus,
As he tries to escape his tomb.
Once I was but a boy,
Like every other boy in this world
Fearing little, untouched, uncorrupted
They taught me to fear the beast
To watch warily for his coming,
And told me the price I would forfeit
If I were captured unaware
Or worse, bade the beast welcome.
The beast never darkened my door
And as I grew older, I wondered.
As much as I feared the beast,
And hoped he would never come,
Boylike, curiosity aroused,
I simultaneously hoped beyond hope
To meet this terrible beast
And discover the what I must dread.
No need to worry, the beast came,
As comes the beast to some or maybe all.
What had not been told me
Was that the beast comes from within
Growing like a choking vine
Killing emotion, paralyzing thought
And slowly, gradually transforming boys
Into the very beast they had been taught to fear.

This poem reminds me about the old Christian woman name Molly who was interviewed with an atheist on CNN.
Reporter: I understand you Christians LOVE everyone. Is that correct?
Molly: Yes sir, that is a commandment.
Reporter: I guess you have something good to say about everyone.
Molly: Yes, sir everyone has some good in them, no matter who they are we are all God's children and he has given us gifts.
Reporter: Is that so?
Molly: Yes, sir!
Reporter: Well Molly what would you say to the devil himself if he stood here right beside us. Would you have a good word for him?
Molly: Yes sir, I would tell him that he is a very, very hard worker.
Reporter: Hey guys, I am getting nowhere. Cut this interview off!!!
An exquisite poem I have read... "The Beast" is a golden literay Scroll.
Viva the Poet!
