I didn’t want to tell you
The last time it happened,
Or the time before that,
Or the time before that:
So many times
I didn’t want to tell you.
I was ashamed, embarrassed,
Scared to admit it to you
Let lone to myself.
What I wanted felt unseemly,
And I didn’t want to tell you
I was afraid you’d take it away,
And sometimes more afraid
In my eagerness
That you’d give me exactly what I wanted.
This time is different.
I WANT you to know
So badly
I want you to know
Because if I tell you
You are the only one
Who can make it safe.
Whether I get what I want or no,
I want you to know.
Like you requested, I tried to fill in the blanks, but try as I would, I couldn't because I still don't know what you want someone to know. I don't have a clue…
To be honest Chip I want to know what is going on in your head.
what kind of mischief you are up to, what have you cooked up for me,
how you plan to take over the world, or redirect the flow of slime away from you and toward me. Anything, but what is on my mind. Sometimes the muck and mire in my head won't yield to rational thought. But yours? Let me have it so I can praise or condemn you for having the guts to speak truth to...beauty or the beast.
