Wisdom Brought by Dragonflies.

Realizations & Dragons

Vicki L. Sullivan

Realizing...How obedience to the authority of others can steal THE VOICE of one's very soul.

Realizing...Those precious faculties of will born in each child, Are the very tenants of life; Are God Given treasures, Intended to lead each to Him to be taught.

Realizing...How lost we have all become as teaching parents.

Realizing...The PERILS of civilized society are more today than ever before.

Poverty produces struggle like nothing else. Hunger.

Pain of Losing Loved Ones. Fear of Death.

All of these are but gentle messengers sent from God

To instruct the heart and mind in righteousness.

I have learned to speak from my own Frames of Reference.

The child must be given the opportunity to struggle for Truth.

Truth is an essence of living matter refined in the fires of pain.

As moisture is reaped from the elements of air,

So truth must be allowed to seep through those Moments of Misery.

We must not steal those opportunities from children.

If in  our fears of pain, we prevent new life from forming true and straight, When you hurt, I will not care. I will only offer the same tidbits of trashy flare.

Wisdom calls us to remember not to interfere with the teaching brought by the Angels of Pain.

Don't give me candy when I cry.

Don't soothe me when I hurt.

Leave me to learn in those times.

Let God provide the teacher I need.

Trust Providence to be the guide.

Don't distract me from the job at hand

By offering sweet tidbits which spoil me.

Let me weep and know my real need.

Let me feel how pain feels and know how precious life really is.

I'm surprised no one commented on your poem. I find it quite enlightening. While I disagree that things are worse today than they were in the past because it's not based in fact, but impression, I agree that not coddling children enables them to learn and experience life more fully on their way to adulthood. They must learn how to be compassionate and kind on their own.

Next Arrivals by Robin Ouzman Hislop

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
