This piece was inspired by a picture taken for the Shadow Poets Calendar.

Enshrouded

In the yard of the dead
black fabric, cold steel
memories that flay me.
Flashing lights,
images of black and white
gift of dead love
piercing the ground.
Unknown names
carved in stone
row upon crooked row
of the forgotten.
The perfect shot
Sacred stones,
unfinished Athenic cloth
draped over death.
unwarmed, incomplete,
souless, empty, aching chest.
Four months dead, for five of life
and eternity of bondage.
One third bound and forever lost,
roaming, haunting, waiting
for reanimation.
Seek my blood, bonded firm
once more tied and two times claimed.
Dead love born in memories trapped
enslaved by purity,
caged by black.
With this ring, unbroken seal,
engraved with blood and passions fire.
You thee wed, three times bound
two souls complete with tri fold cord.

Sacred stones of the dead
embraced with unfinished
shroud of black
Lovers rapier, sacred touched
pierced the earth,
my heart-unclaimed.

Talented pixie, and love inspired poetess, let me be the first to
welcome you back to the Den after your long absence and busy season
of book-signing and promoting even another new Shadow Poets book.
We missed your lovely verse, and it is good to see you back here!
Best of 2005 to you, and hoping that "John-re" returns soon.
