A webdesigner approached me for a contribution to a website for women, by women.
This is the product of that request.

Woman

A woman’s heart beats with a power,

strong, determined and yet resembles
the delicate petals of a field of lilies.

Like the soft petals that bear the violence of a raging storm,
and yet plucked by the rough hands of a man
can either flourish in his all encompassing love,

or wither under the drought of his neglect.
Her heart overflows with passion,
a fiery river of life that pours from her eyes with a twinkle of pride.
From her lips in a contagious laughter,
from her hands in a loving caress.
Her words of endearment can calm the wild beast,
or comfort the fears of her terrified child.
She gives and gives until she has nothing left,
then scrounges for energy to give even more.
Her tears, do not fear them,
they are expressions of love,
of pain and of fury.
Open your eyes, and see the radiance of her charm,

let her stand behind you when your in need,
beside you when you are alone,
and before you in defense.
Her power is as strong as the oceans depths.
And like the sea,
she conceals her strength with outward calm
and unleashes her fury on the irresponsible.
Respect her and avoid her anger,
take delight in her and share the lulling waves of her love...
