A Perfect World

In the early hours of the morning

As the moon shines up above

I wander the house, thinking

What could be done by love

Wars would cease and hunger

Would be ended as all spare grain

Would be shared with those in need

Without any thought of gain

No injuries caused by wicked hand

The reason no longer found

Everyone would walk in peace

Upon earth’s fragile ground

I see people of different races

Laughing in light so bright

Children playing, free from harm

Walking safely, day and night

But then I realise it is make-belief

I make a drink, go back to bed

I sleep till morning, awake to find

That world only in my head

Can you help change this world of ours

Will you make a happier place?

How better than a world of tears

Would be a smile on every face
