Sadness sits in your chair
Dressed in black not blue
I cannot eat my dinner
I just think of you
Anger walks along the paths
We used to walk together
In summer and in winter
In all kinds of weather
Guilt, my new companion
Is in my room at night
When I want to go to sleep
Keeps switching on a light
Why did you make me grieve?
Why from my life did walk?
Drugs made you so different
Another voice would talk
Your place cannot be filled
In the end - you could not care
Now you are gone forever
In your room I stand and stare
An empty pullover, shoes, socks
Books strewn upon your table
I must do something with them
I will - when I am able
Drugs your life has taken
What now - the future years?
Love, hope and dreams - all gone
To a land of inner tears
A Coatesworth ( Retired Consultant Psychiatrist)
Throughout my life, although thankfully, not people who were very close to me, like family, I've known people who destroyed their lives with drugs. It's a real shame that society has created these drugs, often for pleasure, only to be faced with their terrible downside. It seems like that those people that I've known who have died from drugs, were also of superior intelligence and their contributions to our world stopped with excessive use of drugs and their debilitating effect.
All I can say is, what a waste and what a waste of emotions caused by those around them.

Powerful and oh so devastatingly sad, especially for those left, left lonely and bereft of their loved ones life.
